and more Internet users can conveniently access their e-mail through
web-based e-mail accounts. A web-based e-mail account can be accessed
through any web browser at any location, including the office.
However,
an array of potential threats can arise in the workplace when using
a web-based e-mail account, including a decrease in productivity,
an increase in virus attacks and the potential of divulging proprietary company information. These threats
are now forcing companies to reevaluate their current web mail
policies or lack thereof.
